How would you describe your style? Vividly three-dimensional and material forward. Considered and balanced. Focused on form and obsessed with making objects grounded in human connection.

Do you remember the first thing you made? Yes. I made a desk by joining a few pieces of reclaimed joists together to make a tabletop and added salvaged school desk legs that I spray painted.

Before I started making I… I was a professional modern dancer. I danced for Robert Wilson, Lucinda Childs, and Twyla Tharp, among others, before beginning my self-taught design practice.

If I weren’t a maker I’d be... Doing something in the hospitality industry. I love food, travel, and home so I’d love to create and run a hospitality business someday.

Favorite quote or words to live by: “The difference between a warrior and an ordinary man is that a warrior sees everything as a challenge, while an ordinary man sees everything as either a blessing or a curse,” Don Juan in Carlos Castaneda’s A Separate Peace.

If I could run away I’d go… Any of the small islands in Greece.

If you could collaborate with one person dead or alive who would it be? Rudolf Nureyev, the ballet star and fashion icon.

What would be on your maker’s soundtrack? Robyn’s Dancing on My Own, Everything by Icelandic singer Ásgeir.

If you could learn a new skill what would it be? I’ve been thinking a lot about homesteading lately. I’d love to learn more about growing my own food. I’d also like to be better at seaming drywall. I’d like to build an insulated structure, with friends, from start to finish.

What is your perfect day? Spend the day outside with family and friends. Cook one big meal. Gather in the evening around a fire.

Last book you read? Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks

Favorite scent? Balsam Fir

Favorite flower or tree? Any evergreen tree.

What is the most challenging project you have worked on? Why? My new Hover Shelving, because each component is engineered in house and I wanted it to be simple enough to install in five minutes, while being engaging and original.

Favorite podcast? This is Love

Any hidden talents? I studied classical violin and viola intensely until I was 16. I still play when I can, but not often enough.

Where did you grow up? Portland, Oregon

Favorite time of day? Early morning

If you could have a superpower, what would it be? Flying, no question.

What are you most thankful for? My family, especially my husband, dog, and my two baby nieces.
