How would you describe your style? Reductive handmade proportional

Do you remember the first thing you made? No

Before I started making I… I was a gallerist exhibiting contemporary art in all mediums for over 30 years.

If I weren’t a maker I’d be... A working artist.

Favorite quote or words to live by: Be in the moment.

If I could run away I’d go… I’m quite content where I live.

If you could collaborate with one person dead or alive who would it be? Michelangelo, to experience his encyclopedic genius.

What would be on your maker’s soundtrack? Pavarotti’s Nessun Dorma, Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, Somewhere over the Rainbow by Iz Kamakawiwo’ole, early Sex Pistols and selected Beatles.

If you could learn a new skill what would it be? To play the piano.

What’s your favorite movie? Antonioni’s Blow Up. Huge influence on me as a young teen.

What is your perfect day? Calm and productive.

Last book you read? Conversations about sculpture by Richard Serra and Hal Foster

What would your last meal be? A cold dry martini followed by an aged Barolo, Steak Frites Au Poivre, fresh green salad at an old french bistro in Chicago after a long day of working the art fair

Favorite scent? My Chihuahuas right after they’re bathed.

Favorite flower or tree? Euphorbia Tree

Favorite artist? On Kawara

What is the most challenging project you have worked on? Why? Building my house. I had very, very little money at the time. Certainly made it harder.

What do you see outside your bedroom window? Palm Trees, bamboo, my balcony and the base of the spiral staircase to my roof-deck.

What do you hear right now? Water burbling into the trough of my Koi pond

Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever met? Andy Warhol

What was the last gift you gave someone? A course on “Democracy and its discontents” at Harvard extension for my daughter and a perfect cortado to my wife for breakfast

If money was not a factor how would you live your life? Giving back. Supporting the arts, causes, and charities.

Best piece of advice you have ever received? Buy a house.

Any hidden talents? I’d like to think so.

Where did you grow up? Greater Boston

Favorite time of day? Sunset

Favorite holiday? St Patricks Day enjoying my wife’s Irish whiskey cake with my daughters step dancing.

What is your most treasured possession? My art collection.

What is your favorite family tradition? Vacationing on Cape Cod every summer.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be? Not my genre.

Most interesting thing in your liquor cabinet? Rignaud-Sobourin Grang Cru Cognac.

Favorite thing to cook? I reheat well.

What are you currently watching? Babylon Berlin

What are you most thankful for? The health of my family.
